Daniel Thurman of Graduate School USA: CMA Program - Dinner meeting at the Holiday Inn Rosslyn
Dear IMA Nation’s Capital Chapter Members & Friends:
I am pleased to announce our October 19, 2011, dinner meeting at the
Holiday Inn Rosslyn. Our dinner event will include a presentation by
Daniel C. Thurman, Chair, Management Programs, Academic Programs
Division, Graduate School USA. Dan will be discussing the many changes
and the current status of the Certificate in Management Accounting (CMA)
program. Next summer, the IMA will celebrate the 40th anniversary of
the CMA program in Las Vegas. Dan was previously a member of the IMA
staff, supporting program activities for chapters on the West Coast of
the United States, including the CMA program.
For the NCC’s current CMAs, this would be a nice time to network with
fellow CMAs in the area. The NCC would like to assist the current
chapter CMAs in developing a network. By all means, we’d like to see
and hear from you, particularly if you have in interest in special
events oriented to the CMA and topics of interest to the group.
Although Dan is with the Graduate School USA, his comments will focus on
the changes within the past two years to the CMA program—including
transition to a two-part examination. This update will be of interest
to candidates undertaking the current exam. It will also appeal to
current CMAs interested in how the enhanced program is maintaining the
credibility of their certification.
Please, make a reservation of the event through the IMA Chapter website
at: http://www.imanationscapital.org/. While
at the site, please consider also making reservations to attend the
chapter’s October 15 morning ethics seminar and the ever-popular October
27 Government Contracting Seminar. The seminar is often fully-booked,
so do make a prompt reservation.
